Type specimens:

  • Rhinesuchoides tenuiceps: UC 1519, a skull. Its type locality is Stinkfontein, Prince Albert, which is in a Capitanian terrestrial horizon in South Africa.
  • Rhinesuchus rubidgei: RC 73, a skull. Its type locality is Wimbledon, which is in a Wuchiapingian terrestrial horizon in South Africa.
