Type specimen: FMNH 701, a partial skeleton (pelvis, hind limb and pes, caudal vertebrae). Its type locality is Falmouth Locality, which is in a Stephanian/Virgilian lacustrine deltaic mixed carbonate-siliciclastic in the Mattoon Formation of Illinois.
