Sister taxa: Vorkutopecten netschajewi, Vorkutopecten talis
Type specimen: HP 100072, a valve (Right valve). Its type locality is Festningen, Unit 9, Spitsbergen (1989-91 coll), which is in a Wuchiapingian marine shale in the Kapp Starostin Formation of Svalbard and Jan Mayen.
