Sister taxon: Acrophyseter robustus
Type specimen: MNHN SAS 1626, a skull. Its type locality is Sud Sacaco, Montemar, which is in a Messinian paralic siltstone in the Pisco Formation of Peru.
Ecology: aquatic carnivore
Distribution: found only at Sud Sacaco, Montemar
