Belongs to Afrosmilus according to J. Morales et al. 2008
Sister taxa: Afrosmilus hispanicus, Afrosmilus turkanae
Type specimen: BMNH M. 10634, a partial skull (Facial region of skull, the maxillae with all dental alveoli and P3+4 present). Its type locality is Karungu, which is in a Miocene terrestrial horizon in Kenya.
Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore
Distribution:
• Miocene of Kenya (1 collection), Namibia (3)
Total: 4 collections each including a single occurrence
