Type specimen: MLP 65-VIII-29-49, a partial skeleton (portion of skull, fragmentary humerus and other limb bones). Its type locality is Salinas Grandes de Hidalgo, which is in a Huayquerian fluvial siltstone in the Epecuén Formation of Argentina.

Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore
