Type specimen: No. 39979 Mus. Paleo. Univ. Calif., a partial skeleton (skull, vertebrae, pelvis, and left leg). Its type locality is South of Capistrano Beach, which is in a Miocene offshore shale in the Capistrano Formation of California.
Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore
Distribution: found only at South of Capistrano Beach
