Type specimen: BPV 538a+b, a skeleton (mostly complete skeleton with a partial skull). Its type locality is Sinornis type locality, which is in an Aptian lacustrine siliciclastic in the Jiufotang Formation of China.

Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore

Distribution: found only at Sinornis type locality
