  • Mesosaurus tenuidens: MNHN 1865-77, a partial skeleton (anterior trunk and skull)
  • Ditrochosaurus capensis: Its type locality is Hopetown, near intersection of Orange River and Cape Town-Kimberley railroad, which is in an Artinskian offshore shale in the ? Whitehill Formation of South Africa.
  • Mesosaurus brasiliensis: a series of syntypes in the AMNH. Its type locality is Irati station, which is in an Artinskian offshore shale in the Irati Formation of Brazil.
