Type specimens:

  • Pterodaustro guinazui: PVL 2571, a limb element (Humerus). Its type locality is Loma del Pterodaustro, which is in an Albian alluvial fan sandstone in the Lagarcito Formation of Argentina.
  • Puntanipterus globosus: PVL 3869, a set of limb elements (tibia, fibula, tarsus). Its type locality is Hualtarán, Quebrada Larga, which is in an Aptian alluvial fan sandstone/conglomerate in the La Cruz Formation of Argentina.
