Type specimen: SAM 905, a partial skeleton (right scapula and coracoid, right humerus, radius, and ulna, right ilium, ischium, and pubis, partial left ilium, several vertebrae, and numerous ribs). Its type locality is Oorlogsfontein, Aliwal North District, which is in an Anisian dry floodplain siliciclastic in the Burgersdorp Formation of South Africa.
