Sister taxon: Azendohsaurus laaroussii

Type specimen: UA-7-20-99-653, a skull (Nearly complete skull and mandible with associated vertebrae). Its type locality is M-28, Malio River drainage, Azendohsaurus type, which is in a Ladinian/Carnian floodplain siliciclastic in the Isalo II Formation of Madagascar.

Distribution: found only at M-28, Malio River drainage, Azendohsaurus type
