Type specimen: USNM 183653, a shell. Its type locality is Section 7, Marvin Quarry near Afton, which is in a Givetian carbonate limestone in the Gravel Point Formation of Michigan.

Distribution: found only at Section 7, Marvin Quarry near Afton
