Sister taxa: Tethyaster antares, Tethyaster guerangeri, Tethyaster jurassicus

Type specimen: Holotype TMP 90.11.1, Tyrrell Museum, Drumheller, Alberta. Its type locality is southwest of Fish Lake, which is in a Turonian marginal marine sandstone in the Cardium Formation of Canada.

Ecology: slow-moving semi-infaunal carnivore

Distribution: found only at southwest of Fish Lake
