Sister taxon: Oligopithecus rogeri

Type specimen: CGM 18000, a mandible (left dentary preserving c1-m2). Its type locality is Quarry E (Jebel Qatrani Formation), which is in a Rupelian fluvial sandstone/mudstone in the Jebel Qatrani Formation of Egypt.

Ecology: arboreal omnivore

Distribution: found only at Quarry E (Jebel Qatrani Formation)
