Sister taxon: Pachydyptes ponderosus

Type specimen: P.14157a-g, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is Southern end of Blanche Point, which is in a Priabonian deep subtidal ramp marl in the Blanche Point Formation of Australia.

Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore

Distribution: found only at Southern end of Blanche Point
