Type specimens:

  • Palaeospheniscus biloculata: AMNH 3346, a set of postcrania (right humerus). Its type locality is Cerro del Castillo, Trelew, which is in an Aquitanian/Burdigalian shallow subtidal sandstone in the Gaiman Formation of Argentina.
  • Perispheniscus wimani:

Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore

Distribution: found only at Gaiman (marine vertebrates)
