Sister taxa: Augustaceras escheri, Augustaceras robustum
Type specimen: USNM 427239, a shell. Its type locality is Favret Canyon HB 185, Augusta Mountains, which is in a Pelsonian marine limestone in the Favret Formation of Nevada.
Ecology: nektonic carnivore
