Sister taxa: Ampyxina bellatula, Ampyxina powelli

Type specimen: USNM 137692, a cephalon/head (cranidium). Its type locality is Loc. 16, junction Hwy 617 and 753, which is in a Blackriveran carbonate limestone in the Edinburg Formation of Virginia.

Ecology: fast-moving low-level epifaunal suspension feeder

Distribution: found only at Loc. 16, junction Hwy 617 and 753
