Sister taxon: Opisthotriton kayi
Type specimen: AMNH 2667, a partial skull (incomplete skull). Its type locality is Gidley Quarry, which is in a Torrejonian terrestrial horizon in the Fort Union Formation of Montana.
Ecology: amphibious carnivore
Distribution: found only at Gidley Quarry
