Sister taxa: Baurusuchus pachecoi, Baurusuchus salgadoensis
Type specimen: MZSP-PV 140, a partial skeleton (right posterior portion of a skull with mandible, part of the hyoid apparatus, a complete postcranium lacking only the 12th, 17th, and terminal caudal vertebrae). Its type locality is Boa Esperança farm, which is in a Campanian/Maastrichtian fluvial sandstone in the Adamantina Formation of Brazil.
Ecology: carnivore
Distribution: found only at Boa Esperança farm
