Sister taxon: Novaboilus ovatus

Type specimen: CNU-O-NN2006090, a tegmen (male). Its type locality is Daohugou (CNU 2006 collection), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large shale in the Daohugou Formation of China.

Ecology: fast-moving ground dwelling herbivore
