Sister taxa: Tabanus hipparionis, Tabanus statzi, Tabanus sudeticus, Tabanus tremembeensis, Tabanus vectensis
Type specimen: AMNH FI 18859, an exoskeleton. Its type locality is Florissant (Cockerell Collection), which is in a Chadronian lacustrine - large shale in the Florissant Formation of Colorado.
Ecology:
Distribution: found only at Florissant (Cockerell Collection)
