Sister taxon: Voliopus ancestralis
Type specimen: PRE/F 22342, a forewing. Its type locality is Cyphergat (Cyp 111), which is in a Carnian floodplain shale/mudstone in the Molteno Formation of South Africa.
Ecology: fast-moving ground dwelling herbivore
Distribution: found only at Cyphergat (Cyp 111)
