Type specimen: TMM 45606–1, a partial skeleton (Skull, lower jaw, a nearly complete shell (missing anterior end of nuchal and first through third peripherals on the right side), atlas and parts of three cervi). Its type locality is Ten Bits Ranch, north of Study Butte, which is in a Campanian/Campanian coastal sandstone in the Aguja Formation of Texas.
