Sister taxa: Comelicania haueri, Comelicania megalotis, Spitispirifer bisulcatus
Type specimen: MDSGF PK52, a valve (ventral valve). Its type locality is Sass di Putia, Bed PK53, which is in a Changhsingian open shallow subtidal wackestone in the Bellerophon Formation of Italy.
