Type specimen: MV 2555, a skeleton. Its type locality is MV 6801, Surprise Quarry, Bear Gulch, which is in an Arnsbergian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in the Heath Formation of Montana.

Distribution: found only at MV 6801, Surprise Quarry, Bear Gulch
