Sister taxa: Epiosmylus longus, Epiosmylus panfilovi

Type specimen: PIN 2239/1676, an exoskeleton (body missing abdomen with wings attached). Its type locality is Karatau-Mikhailovka (PIN collection 2239), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large siltstone in the Karabastau Formation of Kazakhstan.

Ecology:

Distribution: found only at Karatau-Mikhailovka (PIN collection 2239)
