Sister taxa: Darwinopterus linglongtaensis, Darwinopterus modularis
Type specimen: 41HIII-0309A, a skeleton. Its type locality is Daxishan, Linglongta, which is in a Bathonian/Kimmeridgian lacustrine sandstone/mudstone in the Tiaojishan Formation of China.
Ecology: volant piscivore
Distribution: found only at Daxishan, Linglongta
