Type specimens:
- Yaminuechelys maior: MPEF PV-1273, a partial skeleton (shell fragments). Its type locality is Cerro Hansen, which is in a Danian terrestrial horizon in the Salamanca Formation of Argentina.
- Osteopygis sculptus: NMB uncat., a partial shell. Its type locality is Punta Peligro, which is in a Danian mire/swamp claystone/conglomerate in the Salamanca Formation of Argentina.

• Paleocene of Argentina (4 collections)
• Cretaceous of Argentina (2)
