Sister taxa: Gyrinus confinis, Gyrinus marinus, Gyrinus minutus, Gyrinus opacus, Gyrinus praeopacus
Type specimen: MNHN-IPM-R 07724, an exoskeleton. Its type locality is Aix-en-Provence (Coll. Nel), which is in a Chattian lacustrine - large limestone in the Niveau du gypse d'Aix Formation of France.
Ecology:
Distribution: found only at Aix-en-Provence (Coll. Nel)
