Type specimens:
- Australosomus kochi: Its type locality is Cape Stosch on Hold-with-Hope, which is in a Griesbachian marine siliciclastic in Greenland
- Australosomus simplex: 568, a skeleton. Its type locality is Kap Stosch area, Fish-zone II, which is in a Griesbachian marine limestone in Greenland.
