Sister taxa: Shamosuchus djadochtaensis, Shamosuchus gradilifrons
Type specimen: PIN 3726/501, a partial skull (Partial skull). Its type locality is Khongil Tsav (PIN), which is in a Cenomanian/Santonian terrestrial horizon in the Baynshire Formation of Mongolia.
Ecology: carnivore
Distribution: there are no occurrences of Shamosuchus major in the database
