Sister taxon: Aigialosaurus dalmaticus
Type specimen: Vienna museum specimen, a skeleton (Skeleton lacking part of tail). Its type locality is Lesina (Universitat Wien NHMW collection), which is in a Cenomanian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Starigrad Limestone Formation of Croatia.
