Sister taxon: Carrizocladus arroyo

Type specimen: UNM 6856, a forewing (forewing fragment). Its type locality is NMMNH L-3433; Carrizo Arroyo (UNM collection), which is in an Asselian pond mudstone in the Bursum Formation of New Mexico.
