Sister taxon: Hydrotaea maculipennis
Type specimen: AMNH 26614, an exoskeleton. Its type locality is Florissant, Station 12, which is in a Chadronian lacustrine - large shale in the Florissant Formation of Colorado.
Ecology:
Distribution: found only at Florissant, Station 12
