Sister taxa: Actinotocarcinus chidgeyi, Actinotocarcinus mclauchlani
Type specimen: CMzfc346, an exoskeleton. Its type locality is Motunau Beach (N34/f0113), which is in a Gelasian marine siltstone in the Greta Formation of New Zealand.
Ecology: epifaunal carnivore
Distribution: found only at Motunau Beach (N34/f0113)
