Belongs to Thecachampsa according to E. D. Cope 1872
Sister taxa: Thecachampsa antiquus, Thecachampsa carolinensis, Thecachampsa marylandica, Thecachampsa sericodon
Type specimen: YPM 282, a partial skull (fragmentary skull and vertebrae). Its type locality is Shark River, which is in a Ypresian coastal sandstone in the Manasquan Formation of New Jersey.
Ecology: planktonic carnivore
Distribution: there are no occurrences of Thecachampsa minor in the database
