Type specimen: GPIT ⁄ 477 ⁄ 1 ⁄ 1, a skeleton. Its type locality is Holzmaden, Quarry 29 (=Steinbruch 29), Ohmden; Lias epsilon II, 4, which is in a Falciferum offshore shale in the Posidonia Shale Formation of Germany.
