Type specimens:

  • Idiochelys fitzingeri: Destroyed during WW2. Its type locality is Compsognathus type, Kapfelberg (BSP), which is in a Kimmeridgian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in the Painten Formation of Germany.
  • Chelonemys ovata: MHNL 20015634, a partial skeleton (a near-complete individual, including carapace, skull, cervical series, partial limbs, and tail). Its type locality is Cerin, Jura, which is in a Kimmeridgian terrestrial horizon in France.
  • Chelonemys plana: MHNL 20015635, a partial skeleton (a near-complete individual consisting of plastron, carapace, skull, complete forelimbs, left hind limb, and tail). Its type locality is Cerin, Jura, which is in a Kimmeridgian terrestrial horizon in France.
  • Idiochelys wagneri: Its type locality is Compsognathus type, Kapfelberg (BSP), which is in a Kimmeridgian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in the Painten Formation of Germany.
