Sister taxa: Tienfuchelys chungkingensis, Tienfuchelys zigongensis
Type specimen: CMNH C.1536, a partial skeleton (Shell with incomplete carapace articulated with complete plastron, a right scapula and a right humerus). Its type locality is Tzuyang, which is in a Bathonian/Callovian terrestrial claystone in the Shaximiao Formation of China.
Ecology: aquatic omnivore
Distribution: found only at Tzuyang
