Belongs to Histionotus according to A. S. Woodward 1895
Sister taxa: Histionotus falsani, Histionotus oberndorferi
Type specimen: BMNH P.577, a skeleton. Its type locality is Swanage (BMNH fish coll.), which is in a Berriasian marine horizon in the United Kingdom.
Ecology: nektonic durophage-carnivore
Distribution:
• Cretaceous of the United Kingdom (3 collections)
Total: 3 collections each including a single occurrence
