Type specimen: FMNH PF 5686, a skeleton. Its type locality is Area 3, Pit 11, Peabody Coal Company, which is in a Moscovian marine shale in the Carbondale Formation of Illinois.
Ecology: nektonic carnivore
Distribution: found only at Area 3, Pit 11, Peabody Coal Company
