Sister taxa: Trichosurus hamiltonensis, Trichosurus vulpecula

Type specimen: QM F13077, a partial skull (fragmentary skull plus fragmentary left maxilla). Its type locality is Gag Site, which is in a Langhian/Serravallian lacustrine carbonate in Australia.

Ecology: arboreal herbivore-insectivore

Distribution: found only at Gag Site
