Belongs to Hemicalypterus according to B. Schaeffer 1967
Sister taxa: none
Type specimen: USNM 23425, a skeleton (Nearly complete skeleton). Its type locality is Little Valley fish locality, which is in a Norian/Rhaetian channel siltstone in the Chinle Formation of Utah.
Ecology: nektonic durophage-carnivore
Distribution:
• Triassic of United States (3: Texas, Utah collections)
Total: 3 collections each including a single occurrence
