Type specimen: AM 4313, a partial skeleton (skull and anterior postcranial skeleton). Its type locality is Elucwecwe, which is in an Anisian terrestrial sandstone in the Burgersdorp Formation of South Africa.
Ecology: amphibious carnivore
Distribution: found only at Elucwecwe
