Sister taxon: Cordulegaster buchi
Type specimen: BSP AS VII 794, an exoskeleton (Complete body). Its type locality is Solnhofen (BSPGM Munich coll), which is in a Tithonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Solnhofen Formation of Germany.
Distribution: there are no occurrences of Cordulegaster muensteri in the database
