Type specimen: MPEF PV 3838 (undistorted posterior half of the skull, further isolated elements of skull and lower jaws, fragmentary postcranium). Its type locality is Puesto Almada, 15 km north of the village of Cerro Cóndor, 30m above fish beds, which is in an Oxfordian fluvial sandstone in the Cañadón Calcáreo Formation of Argentina.
