Type specimen: BPI 379, a partial skeleton (Complete skull and anterior portion of a skeleton). Its type locality is New Castle of the Admiralty Estates farm, Field No. 3849 (Beaufort Grp.), which is in an Induan/Olenekian terrestrial siliciclastic in the Normandien Formation of South Africa.
