- Idiacanthus cameratus: Its type locality is 12th st and viaduct, Cherryvale shale 4e, which is in a Kasimovian marine shale in the Cherryvale shale Formation of Missouri.
- Idiacanthus trispinosus: Its type locality is Bellevue, Americus Limestone, which is in a Gzhelian marine limestone in the Foraker Formation of Kansas.
